There is some thing in my cats eye. It's not some thing thats hard, It looks light gray, Gel texture. It mite be his hair thats got in his eye. Should i try rubbing it out, Or taking it out? Will it come out on it's own? It doesn't look like it's bothering him. What should i do?

If it isn't bothering him, don't let it bother you! People and cats have a natural mechanism for cleansing the eye of debris through tearing.

Of course if the eye seems to become inflamed or the cat is keeping it closed all the time it probably would be good to have a vet look at it. The cornea could become scratched and that could cause problems.

Try eye drops. That should do the trick. I use regular eye drops with my animals. Does not harm them.

If it doesn't look like it's bothering him, then just watch him carefully for a few days and see if there are any changes. As long as there is not any pus coming out of his eye and there is not a lot of "gunk" building up in the crease on the conjunctiva close to his eye, then he should be okay.

If it doesn't go away after a couple of days, then you could do what some other people have suggested and try to flush out his eye yourself. If that is still no good, then you might need to take him to your vet, especially if you notice any kind of negative change in his eye.

If it is in the corner of his eye (where the tear duct is), the take a piece of cotton wool, and some boiled water which has been allowed to get cool. Dunk the cotton wool in the cold boiled water and squeeze out the excess water, then gently wipe the area ALWAYS from the eye towards the bridge of the nose, do not rub it.

This should do the trick if it is just a bit of gunk. If it keeps coming back then he has an eye infection and you will have to get some ointment from the vet.

Cats get this all the time since they can be very fury and they clean themself by licking themselves to keep clean. That gel looking hair thing is fine! It won't hurt the cat. NO, DON'T try rubbing it out!!! Don't try to take it out! Yes, It will come out eventually. The cat may feel it but in most cases it doesn't bother them! You should do nothing for that gel looking thing in it's eye!

That will just irritate it more!

You can use eye drops. I have cat ones, but I think they're the same as people ones. If he keeps getting thick stuff in his eye he might have a problem like conjunctivitis though, it can be only in one eye. It is a chronic problem, generally brought on by stress, and is usually cleared up with triple antibiotic EYE ointment. I can't remember the name of the stuff, but it is eye specific. I recommend the vet though if you think it is a chronic problem.

Try wiping his eyes with a cleasing cloth (for pets) or a warm wash cloth. That should help. Keep an eye on his eye to make sure it doesn't turn red or get infected.
