Put the lightest shade all over your eye lid, followed by the medium shade in the middle of your eye lid (it may look a bit of a mess at the moment, but bear with me!) then the darkest shade on the furthest part of the lid - this colour will help to give the appearance of the eye being more open. Now take a clean brush and sweep the colour from the inside outwards (ie the lightest out to the darkest). Hope this helps.
