I need help naming a character!?

I believe that characters are like my children, and I don't settle when it comes to naming them. But I am STUCK on this one character! She's important to me, and she's in my head, but I have no idea what her name is! I'm drawn towards Evangeline, Jillian, Estella, and Adelaide, but I have no idea. Could you give me some suggestions to get my brain going? I'll give you an excert from my three page character sketch:

Basic Description: A thoughtful and independent introvert. Speaks her mind but doesn閳ユ獩 like socializing very much. Shy until you get to know her. Intelligent, feminist, dislikes being disrespected. Slightly dreamy, very self conscious. Doesn閳ユ獩 allow herself to hope too much. Feels different from the rest of the world. Would rather read a book than face the world. Keeps secrets to herself, she is very mysterious.

Appearance: Straight, medium brown hair, a tan complexion, comical eye brows that are very straight, gray-blue eyes, cat shaped and a little too spread out...

I need help naming a character!?

Hey, how about she's named Gladys, but called Glad, because Gladys sounds weird? :DDDDD

Okeee...let's see.

Violet?

Sam?

Ruby?

Magda?

Amanda?

Moira?

Ellen?

Donna?

Isabella, nicknamed Izzy?

Linda?

Alice?

How about just plain Emma, or Jane, or Anna? Then it would make her seem realistic, because, see, her parents didn't know she'd be so special as to be featured in a book, so just named her something plain and common....and she doesn't sound all tall and dark and mysterious, just kinda plain, in a nice way.

ORRRRR, she could have this hugely exotic name, and she feels that she can't ever live up to something as glamorous as her name, she just feels invisible and non-special? Either one....

???maybe???

Do these help?

Definitely sounds like an Estella to me. That name sounds so mysterious and introverted, yet smart at the same time.

I need help naming a character!?

I really like Evangeline

I need help naming a character!?

Her name is Josephine, but some people call her Joey or just plain Jo. Her family refers to her as Sis.

Can i make a suggestion without selecting a name?

I think that when you hear the other responses, you're either going to be pleased or displeased with the selections. That's how you're going to come to a final name.

OH, heck-- I think your character sounds like a Temple.

I like Jillian. This character doesn't strike me as one that would have a "fancy" name and Jillian is the least fancy of all the names. But its not common either, which is a plus, as this seems like the type of girl you would remember. I'm like you, my characters have to have the perfect name!

IMO, your character doesn't sound high maintenance so her name shouldn't be, either. I would go for something less feminine and fussy, like Jill instead of Jillian or...for the same sound, Lillian or Lilly instead of Jillian, reminiscent of Lillith, whom feminists seem to use as their standard-bearer.

Just an idea.
