I need major eyeliner help!?

I have a function to go to next week and my dress is strapless, dark gray with a light silver paisley print. My problem is eye makeup. I have been looking online and can't find anything that works for a dramatic look (it is at night). I never wear makeup to begin with. I have pale skin with freckles, dark brown hair, and dark brown eyes. I have played with black eyeliner and gray/blackish eyeshadow for a smokey look, but it makes me look like a complete whore. What can I do? Are the colors wrong?

gold eyeshadow with pink blush, blck mascara and clear gloss works best with brunettes .

trying out new makeup for a big event is a no-no.

pick your favorite ideas and try them out for a simple outing to starbucks or grocery shopping.

try brown eyeliner, going straight to black will make you look almost unrecognizable.

also, department store women in the makeup section can be helpful if you let them.

Well...

You should definately wear black eyeliner. A little thicker on the top than bottom.

Instead of grayish black eyeshadow on yer entire eyelid, wear it darker toward the bottow of lid (near liner) and get lighter at top. Maybe with a shimmery color like silvery white.

If you do that it would look kool. And pretty. And it's a night function so it will be fine.
